Gamblin Artist Colors Co is pleased to announce the 16th annual Torrit Grey Promotion and Contest! For every three tubes of 37ml Gamblin Artist Grade Colors you purchase, we will give you one 37ml tube of Torrit Grey (while supplies last).

What is Torrit Grey?

Gamblin collects pigments from their Torit (r) Air Filtration system and recyles them into Gamblin Torrit Grey.  Available each spring to celebrate Earth Day, Torrit Grey turns pigment dust into paint to remind painters of the importance of recycling and environment safety.

Artists are invited to submit paintings made using Torrit Grey, white and black.  Gamblin Artist Colors materials awards: $500 First Prize, two $350 Honorable Mentions.

Participation in the Torrit Grey Painting Competition continues to grow each year.  160 submissions were recieved in 2008.  The artists came from 31 states and 5 Canadian Provinces.  Along with increased participation, the overall quality of the entries continue to challenge them during the jurying process.  Visit the Torrit Grey Web Gallery to see all the submissions at www.gamblincolors.com.

Exhibition of The Highwaymen ( past and current) as a part of FIU’s celebration of black history month. The exhibit is made up of several generations of work ,and one of the original Highwaymen will be there to share their story. The opening reception is this friday , february 13th starting at 7pm in the GC Art Gallery in University Park ( Main Campus ). It is FREE and OPEN to public.

Since Utrecht’s inception in 1949, we have been dedicated to furthering artistic ideals and integrity through the manufacture of high quality materials and fair costs. Continuing this, we present “Mini Your Work 09 - A big contest with tiny work”!

Join us for the opening reception where you can help promote your small works to the public and maybe make a little money too.  Prizes will be awarded during the opening on March 5th, 2009.  Great discounts will be given to all submitting artists.  All the proceeds of artwork sales will go directly to you. 

Eligibility:
-Open to all artists of any level
-Submissions must have been created in the last 5 years
-Artwork cannot exceed eight inches (8”) in height or width (including mating and framing) 8”x8” max.
-Artwork must be appropriate for all ages.
-Artwork must be hand delivered, no shipped or emailed entries.
-Artwork must be hang-ready when submitted. 

Submission Guidelines:
-Artists may submit up to three (3) entries with a non-refundable entry fee of $3 per piece (check, cash, or credit cards – no money orders) Actual artwork is to be submitted to Utrecht Art Supplies during normal store hours from February 5th through March 5th 2009.
-You will be supplied with entry forms when you drop off your artwork. 
-Each piece needs to have a sale price or be marked “NFS” (not for sale) on the entry form. 

Prizes:
-There will be three prizes given out during the opening reception. 
-First place: $50 gift card.
-Second place: $25 gift card.
-Community pick: $20 gift card.

Important Dates:
-February 5th through March 5th 2009- Hand deliver artwork during normal store hours for jury process.
-March 5th 2009 - Notification of acceptance/rejection. (the decisions are non-negotiable)
-March 5th through March 12th 2009 - pick up for non-selected submissions.
-March 5th through March 12th 2009 - judging for the community pick winner.
-March 12th, 2009 - Opening reception and awards presentation.
-March 19th – 26th, 2009 Hand retrieval of artwork during normal store hours.
