Gamblin Demonstation

UNDERSTANDING CONTEMPORARY OIL PAINTING MATERIALS

Glenn Brill, Artist Representative for Gamblin Artist’s Colors, will present a practical, hands-on educational presentation on Gamblin Oil Colors. This 90 minute presentation will cover all aspects of oil paints, mediums and varnishes, including:
Color Theory and Practical Color Mixing
Navigating Color Space
Mineral vs. Modern Pigments
Understanding Color Names
Oil Paint Manufacturing
Professional Grade Oil Paint vs. Student Grade Oil Paint
Mediums and Varnishes
Indirect vs. Direct Painting Techniques
Supports, Sizing and Grounds
Studio Safety

The goal of the presentation is not only to educate participants on oil paints but to provide information that will enable attendees to create their own personalized palette. All attendees will receive FREE Gamblin Product & Literature Samples. All attending instructors will receive the Gamblin DVD, Navigating Color Space.

About the Presenter:
Glenn Brill has presented over 100 educational presentations throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. Currently an Adjunct Professor at San Francisco State University, Glenn has also taught at California
College of the Arts, San Francisco Art Institute and University of California @ Hayward. Glenn has been involved in art material product development and education for over 15 years. He has worked for some of the premier art material companies as Director of Education, helping to develop and test oil and acrylic paints, brushes, canvas, paper, and drawing materials. Glenn has been the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts Visual Fellowships, Author of “Beyond the Brush” and co-author of “The Acrylic Handbook”. His artworks are in the permanent collections of the Archives of American Art, Brooklyn Museum, San Jose Museum and Phoenix Art Museum. Glenn holds
a BFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts, an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and is a Tamarind Master Printer.

Demonstrations at Utrecht Miami- What do you want?

What are you interested in learning? What excites you?

We are planning our next batch of Demo’s for the month of May.  We have some new classes on Sundays:
Oil painting- Fausto Nunez teaches landscape painting, $55 per class and supplies will be 10% off.
During the week we are planning some kids classes- 3-d collage with Diana & Maria Monroy. Their schedule will be sent out shortly.

On Saturdays we are planning more Plastilina demos (this time we will be making animals), Oil painting demos and acrylic painting demos.

If there is anything else that you would be interested in learning how to use please let us know.  The more feedback we getm the better we can serve you.

In the past we’ve had: Color theory with gouche, Using coloraid, Screenprinting, and Relief printing Linolium with Linolium.

Freda Coffing Tschumy

Freda Coffing Tschumy will be the Featured Artist in a new exhibition at Windisch-Hunt Fine Art ,
2911 Grand Avenue, Coconut Grove,
Opening on Sunday, March 30, 2008 from 2 to 4 PM.
The exhibition will continue through April.
35 works of art by Freda Tschumy will be in the gallery.
Freda has exhibited widely in the US and Canada. She received the first Metrorail
sculpture commission, for the University of Miami station, and her sculpture of
Marjory Stoneman Douglas is on view at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
She cast all of the pieces in this exhibition.

Art For Smiles

Join us in Saturday, March 29th at 7pm, as FASA and the Graham Center Art Gallery  host a silent auction of donated artwork from local artists to assist the James Correa Foundation.

Proceeds from this event will go towards assisting this nonprofit organization in continuing to provide free medical aid to families of children with cleft lips and palates, skin grafts for burn victims and removal of tumors.  All medical treatment is preformed by their team of volunteer plastic surgeons and specialists.

Donated artwork will be on view March 10th - 29th.  Complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeurves will be served during the reception March 29th, 2008 from 7pm - 9pm
